Affectionate Pit Bull Princess Adopted From Florida Animal Shelter Can't Stop Thanking Her New Mom
Deciding when to bring home a new four-legged friend can take a lot of time and thought. There's no single way to know that you're ready to adopt another dog, but when you meet the dog who's meant to be yours, there's no turning back. Whether you've been planning for months or your life changed in an instant, meeting your perfect pup changes everything.
One lucky dog mom from Walton County, Florida, realized that she hit the jackpot while she was signing adoption papers on November 21. Her new best friend, Veronica, couldn't stop saying 'thank you' before they even left the shelter! The sweet Pit Bull is going to be treated like a Princess from now on, and this moment proves how special it is for both of them.
What a sweetheart! The adorable Pit Bull knew exactly what was happening, and she wasn't going anywhere until she made sure that her mama had sealed the deal. It breaks my heart to think that she may have been in this position before or that she may have seen other dogs being adopted while she was still in a kennel. Thankfully, it's her turn now!

"This made me cry," commenter @cyn0505 admitted. "It’s like she was saying, 'Please don’t change your mind.'" Pass the tissues, please! Shelter dog Veronica's love and excitement shine through in the way she looks at her new mom, but it seems like all that love is about to be reciprocated. The sweet dog owner stops what she's doing to reassure her nervous girl, which shows how in-tune they already are. And with the matching pink shirt and dog collar, it's like they're made for each other inside and out!
Bringing Home a Shelter Dog
Naturally, plenty of commenters began reminiscing about meeting their own adopted dogs for the first time. It really is an experience that you never forget!
"My girl ran out of the shelter like she was fleeing a crime," shared @drop_it_like_its_POTS. "She loved us by the time we got home. It was crazy to see the fast connection we had with her. Five years later, we still are obsessed with her." That's the dream! Although not every rescue dog will connect and adjust as instantly as in this story, a pup and their forever family will love each other more and more every day.
Canine behaviorists and experts recommend that new dog owners follow the 3-3-3 rule when setting expectations. According to this rule, it can take 3 days before a rescue pet feels safe enough to begin interacting, while it can take 3 weeks before they start to get the hang of routines and expected behaviors. After 3 months, they should be feeling mostly at home!
