Cocker Spaniel Impresses Dog Sitter By 'Singing Along' to Vintage French Hit
Those who have had the honor of raising a dog know just how challenging and rewarding it can be. There are days when you'll use every last ounce of effort and patience, but there are other days when your furry friend blows you away with their love and cleverness. Dog sitting may not be as involved as owning a dog of your own, but you'll experience just as many ups and downs as you get to know your new friend.
Just ask Ray! This Paris dogsitter recently met a brand new bestie named Goldie, but she had no idea that this pup is a gold mine of hidden talents. And then, on November 19, Ray shared the video that changed it all: After finding a note from the Cocker Spaniel's owner asking her to play the French hit 'La Vie En Rose,' the curious dog sitter decided to give it a try.
OMG- this is the sweetest thing I have ever seen! This Cocker Spaniel is a natural superstar, from her curls to her voice, but the element of surprise truly sealed the deal. Ray didn't have any idea she was taking care of Edith Piaf reincarnated!

"In her past life, she's a heartbroken woman in the '20s," speculated commenter @royilyoily. That's precisely what she sounds like! She could have been a jazz crooner or an actress in the Roaring 20s, and her curly hairstyle only adds to the vision. Goldie has the aesthetic down to an art, and now, only one question from @silliestfox: "How do you discover your dog does this?" Clearly, there's a story here that needs to be told! Plenty of dogs howl along to sirens or in response to other barks, but not many dogs sing along to vintage French music.
Why Do Dogs Howl?
Even though Goldie is clearly singing, not howling, she does have dog owners and fans wondering why dogs howl when it's not for long-distance communication.
Some dog breeds, like Siberian Huskies, are prone to howling because of their instinctual need to communicate with other dogs across long distances and during storms. They may not face the same conditions today, but howling can still be their preferred method of communication. In fact, many dogs howl to get their human's attention! If you're quicker to shush a howl than a bark, they may have learned that howling is a surefire way to get your attention.
Other times, dogs howl to express their emotions, like loneliness and separation anxiety. However, it's also likely that your buddy is marking their territory vocally, letting out a burst of energy, or simply saying hello.
