Golden Retriever’s ‘Smile’ in Front of the Christmas Tree Is the Festive Cheer People Deserve

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and many of us look forward to having our pups take pictures in front of the Christmas tree. But they aren't always as excited about the festivities as we are. Teddy is a Golden Retriever who isn't quite as excited as getting his picture taken as his "stupid" parents are. His dad Johnathan posted a video at the end of November of Teddy smiling for the camera, and it will crack you up!

The video is only 9 seconds long, but that's all you need to see how Teddy feels about the "stupid" Christmas tree pics. I've watched this video at least 3 times and I can't stop laughing! Make sure your sound is on because the Christmas carol playing in the background makes the video even funnier!

Listen, I'm not a fan of getting my picture taken either Teddy, so I can relate! I wasn't the only one who loved Teddy's smile...people left more than 3 thousand comments! @Brittany suggested, "Put it on the Christmas card! This is golden!" @Katherine Kobel said, "Teddy’s face is priceless! And he’s thinking about revenge LOL!" @Ericka pointed out, "Your dog looks so excited for the holidays! Golden Retrievers always know how to bring the festive spirit!" Even @The Weather Channel joined in, "Teddy is so real for this!"

Keeping Pets Safe Around the Christmas Tree

If you have pets, chances are they're very curious when it comes to the Christmas tree. They want to check it out, play in, under, or around it, and may even want to pull ornaments off of it. If this all sounds familiar, then you know how important it is to keep your pets safe around the tree.

Make sure to anchor your tree so that they can't knock it over if they try to climb under it. Make sure the tree's base is big enough to hold up the weight of the tree and isn't wobbly. You may want to consider putting the tree in a corner near a wall just for added stability. I've even seen people put a barrier around their tree so that their pets can't get near it!

What kinds of ornaments and decorations do you put on your tree? Are they pet safe? Glass ornaments, metal hooks on ornaments, tinsel, and candy canes are all unsafe. If you use glass ornaments, they can fall and break, leaving glass shards everywhere that your pooch may try to eat or step on. Metal hooks can cause blockages in the digestive track if they're eaten, as can tinsel. Candy canes may contain xylitol, a sugar alternative that is highly toxic to dogs.

If you have a real Christmas tree, pine needles can also be an issue. They can be stepped on, and the needles can get stuck in paw pads. They can also cut your dog’s mouth or cause damage to their digestive system if eaten. Make sure to vacuum or sweep them up at least once a day. We all want to enjoy the festivities, and I'm sure that a trip to the vet at this time of the year isn't on anybody's wish lists.
