For years McDonald’s customers have been lamenting the loss of a very popular menu item, the Snack Wrap. First introduced in 2006, the Snack Wrap features one crispy chicken tender topped with fresh lettuce, pickles, and creamy garlic mayo and wrapped in a warm tortilla. It was removed from the menu in most locations in 2016 and in all by 2020. (Although a variation can still be found internationally)

But today the president of McDonald’s USA, Joe Erlinger, appeared on Good Morning America and told George Stephanopoulos that the demands of the fans have been heard. “The Snack Wrap will be back in 2025.”

Erlinger continued, “This has a cult following. I get so many emails in my inbox about this product, it will be back in 2025.” Despite Stephanopoulos’s best efforts with the follow up on an exact date, Erlinger said he wouldn’t reveal that just yet, “for competitive reasons.”

The McDonald’s executive was also on the morning show to address the deadly E.Coli outbreak that was linked to onions used in McDonald’s Quarter Pounders. Once the source was identified the global fast food chain stopped using the onions and switched suppliers. The CDC has already declared the outbreak over, but Erlinger said, "We let people down. I want to apologize to all of our customers who were harmed by this incident.”

He added that food safety remains their priority and "we need to continue to rebuild trust with consumers – we have work to do, it will be ongoing."
