Rescue Pug Stares in Wonder & Curiosity After Seeing Snow for the First Time
If you need more proof of the power of pet adoption, think of snow — yes, snow! Let us explain. A rescue pug on the internet is enjoying the majesty of the white fluff for the very first time this year and it's positively magical. Her owners managed to capture video of the dog taking it all in for the first time and it's so special — she was positively mesmerized!
For some of us, it's easy to take snow for granted. Same old, same old. But it's really something to see snow for the first time through someone else's eyes.
Or at least that's what it's like for people on the internet and Dory. The rescue Pug is from California — you know, the land of no snow? So we can only imagine what it was like when she was adopted to a new family that gets inches and inches of the white stuff.

In the video her owners posted, Dory was bundled up in a sweater as she looked around at the flakes falling around her. Obviously she can't really talk, but if she did we're sure she'd be saying "Oooh. Ahhhh."
"Every flake feels like a little miracle," the dog "wrote" in the video's caption.
This moment wasn't just amazing for Dory — commenters were moved too. "I wish I was as happy as a pug in a red sweater seeing snow for the first time," one person wrote. "I love this! This is so precious and made me cry. Look at those eyes looking around at the world. That is so heartwarming. I hope this baby gets all the love and kisses," praised another commenter. "I love this. Dory deserves the world," chimed in another person.
Should Dogs Play in the Snow?
With changes in the weather come changes in your dog's routine. Heck, your dog might be out for their morning bathroom break and decide that they want to frolic. But should you let them? The answer is yes — but you do need to take some precautions before letting them out into the cold.
Just like humans, dogs can get chilly. Worse yet, their feet can become cold and cracked while walking on the icy ground. Make sure to put your pup in some booties before heading out for the day. And check for rock salt and antifreeze. De-icing agents can irritate your dog's paws too and can really hurt their stomachs if eaten.
Cover your dog in a blanket or towel when you bring them in for the day. You want to warm them up! Snow should be an exciting adventure for your dog. And it will be with a little snow day prep.
