Rescued Dog Escapes From Woman Who Saved Him and All of New Orleans Is Helping to Look for Him

A white terrier named Scrim is somewhere in New Orleans, and residents have been relentlessly trying to find him. Scrim was rescued by Michelle Cheramie, with Zeus' Rescues, from a hard life on the streets earlier this year. He first escaped from her home in April, and the community rallied for months to find him. He was finally returned home in October, but on November 13th, he escaped again.

CBS News shared a clip of his story on November 30th. They spoke with Cheramie who explained how the dog got out of her home for the second time, and it's surprising. Cheramie explained that Scrim broke through the screen of her daughter's second story window and then jumped 13-feet off the roof. Watch on to hear more of Cheramie and Scrim's story.

I feel so bad for Scrim! The Terrier's life on the streets of New Orleans wasn't an easy one, and I'm sad that he went back to it. People left more than 1,400 comments replying to CBS News' video. @Shannon P Baker pointed out, "He needs a GPS collar when she catches him." @KurteousThor joked, "Scrim is in too deep to leave these streets." and @Sassy added, "He don’t wanna be saved LOL!" @Janay made me laugh when she said, "I guess Scrim scrammed." @kat of the week wondered, "At what point do we just leave him alone?"

More About Scrim the Missing Terrier in New Orleans

Scrim's story is a sad one. Cheramie is trying to help him and give him a family to love, but Scrim's past made her job very difficult. She told CBS, "He was shot twice during those six months that he was on the street, so yeah, humans are pretty scary to him." She went on to add, "We were just trying to teach him that human hands are actually good, and not all human hands hit you, and not all human feet kick you, and it took us the first couple of months that we had to convince him of that, and he had finally come around," Cheramie said. "He's just in that flight mode again where humans are scary."

The community is once again on the lookout for Scrim, even creating a map tracker of where people have spotted him since he's been gone. He's been spotted by cameras, and Cheramie is out every day looking for him, "I have a dart rifle, we have net guns... it shoots out and it encapsulates him, and then we can jump on him."

With colder weather on its way, everybody is hoping to get him home before winter sets in. I hope he gets home, too. We're all worried about this little guy!
