Video Shows Basset Hound Napping in the Sun & People Are Saying He’s ‘Literally Snoopy'

Um, is that? No, it can't be. Our eyes must be deceiving us because we could swear that we're seeing Snoopy! People on the internet were also convinced they were seeing the beloved Peanuts character, after watching video of a Basset Hound taking a nap near a little red tool shed in the yard. Yep, big Snoopy vibes if you ask us.

Walter's little nap in the sun had people everywhere swooning. Are we sure this isn't Charlie Brown's dog?

Basset Hounds and Beagles look so similar, after all. And while the dog was resting on a red shed in the yard and NOT a red dog house, the similarities are so strong! All he needs is his little pal Woodstock and this Basset could easily pass for Joe Cool.

The Hound's owner, Teddy Jacobson captured the pup just having a rest in the video he shared. Enjoy it, Walter! Who wouldn't love a little sunshine?

It was commenters online who really made the connection between Snoopy and the Basset Hound. "He’s literally Snoopy, are you kidding? I’m gonna start crying," wrote one person. "I miss my Beagle. (I know this is a Basset Hound)," another commenter chimed in. "My childhood dog was a Beagle/Basset mix with some Dachshund in her. They have the same eyes, oh my goodness," another person gushed. "All the different angles and he just stayed resting," one commenter teased.

What Kind of Dog Is Snoopy?

Beloved for decades, Snoopy has become an American treasure. He's everywhere! From the Peanuts cartoon strips to movies, novelty items, hats, belts, socks — even phone cases! We could go on and on about the many ways that Snoopy has become iconic. But his fame does have a lot of people wondering: what kind of dog is Snoopy anyway?

Snoopy is a Beagle, of course! Beagles are lively and curious dogs. You could certainly say that about Snoopy too. While most Beagles probably don't sleep on top of their dog house (nor daydream about being pilots for that matter), but they have a real inquisitive streak, which Snoopy does too.

Speaking of Snoopy's sleep habits, the dog might have this in common with real life Beagles too. Beagles tend to be sort of lazy — they love a nap! So it makes sense that Snoopy loves his sleep.

Beagles are also hungry dogs. They love to eat. So of course Snoopy does too! In fact, Snoopy has a "stomach clock" that tells him when his buddy Charlie Brown should bring him his food.

So there you have it — Walter might not be a Beagle. But Snoopy is all about vibes anyway.
