Pets are sort of like our children, right? Well unfortunately for one woman, her cat is more like a hormonal teenage girl. RaeShanda Lias was the disapproving mother when she caught her cat Nutmeg trying to leave the house to "see boys." And now people online can't stop laughing.

Busteddddd. The cat was this close to making her great escape. Thankfully they caught her before she could steal Lias' car and go to a concert.

The cat looked like she was considering all of the exits in the video her mom shared. Nutmeg, or "Nutmegan Marie" as her mom jokingly called her, was ready to make a break for it.

"Trying to see that boy!" Lias joked in the footage. Someone's in troubleeee. Worse, Nutmeg's "big brother" got in trouble for not keeping a close enough eye on his sister.

"You were supposed to watch your sister. She's out here being fast!" the cat mom joked. "What if she gets pregnant?!" she teased.

So much drama! Raising a teen cat is no small feat.

"Nutmeg tried to escape again while we were working on the security bell!" the woman explained in the caption.

The comments section couldn't stop laughing. "The big brother gasp when the blame comes," one person wrote. "She’s out here being fast…. I cannot," someone else added. "It's your son looking up when you started getting into him about letting Nutmeg get out," a third person teased. "Nutmegan tryna make you a glamma! Lol," joked one commenter.

How to Keep Your Cat From Escaping

Obviously, this is all in good fun. But Nutmeg isn't the only cat who sort of has a running away problem. If your cat can't seem to stay inside, don't panic. It's normal that an indoor cat would want to explore the outside. But it can definitely be dangerous for a cat to explore unattended. Here is a quick tip to keep them inside the house.

The key is positive reinforcement. You want your cat to respect threshold boundaries (aka, stay away from the door). So take things slowly. Create a positive association if your cat stays away from the doorway. That can mean giving them a little treat or praise when they're near an open door, but they don't go through it.

You can even keep your cat on a harness when you open the door and use cue words like "wait" or "stay" when you pass by the door. Eventually you'll be able to open the door more and more and your cat will know not to leave. Again, it takes time to get there. But it's certainly better than catching your "teenager" running away to see a boy!
